When I moved to the countryside years ago, I used to take long drives, and one of the roads I turned down had this magnificent meadow of blowing white-cream flowers. I had to stop. That became my bedstraw soap, which to me is a wild soap because just like I used it then, the fresh flower is thrown in (stems included) and the smell is the outside. That wildflower scent of nature...and it produces the loveliest yellow too which adds a bit of sunshine to anyone's day.

Bedstraw grows wild in June and is known as Lady's Bedstraw or just plain White by others. Bedstraw is not native to North America but was brought over from Europe. Lady's Bedstraw has a long history of use as a herbal medicine though it is little used in modern medicine. Its main application is as a diuretic and a treatment for skin complaints. The leaves, stems and flowering shoots are antispasmodic and astringent. My Lady's or White Bedstraw Soap (don't quite know which to choose!) is made with saponified oils of olive, coconut, shea and castor. With fresh lady's/ white bedstraw. ☺
