St. John's Wort Salve

The scent of St. John's Wort is sort of foresty, golden, and you can really smell the oils in the flower.

St. John's Wort, known for helping depression, tonic for the immune system, anti-inflammatory and more, is also just great for the skin. It was used in European Balkan Region folk medicine and dates back to the Ancient Greeks. St. John's Wort oil has been used to treat abrasions, burns, sunburns and inflammatory skin disorders.

Its use for wound healing has been justified with its anti-inflammatory, astringent and antimicrobial effects. In studies, it stimulated tissue growth and cell differentiation, as one of the plant's main ingredients, hyperforin, was shown to activate TRPC6 channel which has been recognised as an activator of keratinocyte differentiation, which has an important role in skin structure and in functioning of the immune system.

This salve is comprised of just two ingredients: St. John's Wort infused olive oil and beeswax.
