Wintergreen and Balsam Fir Soap

Oh Wintergreen.
I've been wanting to make a Wintergreen soap for quite some time and was inspired recently by a coworker to just, do it.

Wintergreen oil comes from the leaves of the Wintergreen plant. Methyl salicylate, the active agent in Wintergreen, is closely related to aspirin with its well-known analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. The plant is one of few "counterirritants," meaning it produces a heating or cooling effect when applied topically which tends to relieve pain and inflammation in deeper organs. I use it in my pain salve as well. It is also known to be used for colds.

Wintergreen, to me, smells like gum (in the best way): Minty, refreshing and effervescent. A great pick-me-up 😊

The Balsam Fir in this soap is reminiscent of the woods/ forest and compliments the Wintergreen so much in this soap.

Balsam Fir trees - popular now as Christmas trees - grow up to 25 feet and its cones grow upright. The resin can be used as an antiseptic for sores, burns and wounds. The sap has both antiseptic and analgesic properties and in the Bible was called, "the Universal cure." Not only is the scent calming, some people use the essential oil in massage as well.

Love how this one turned-out :)
